Established in 4th century AD, and believed to be the oldest Christian Church outside of Palestine, this location was used by Islamic State(IS) as a holding prison for men awaiting trial. 
G4S Tier 2 Medic James Jewel stands at the rear door of the church securing the area during a visit by members of the G4S Senior Management Team. 

In the courtyard beyond are piles of satellite dishes confiscated by IS to isolate and control the flow of information to residents within the territory they had seized. 
G4S were operating in Mosul on behalf of the UN Mine Action Services, clearing explosive remnants of war, a necessary task ahead of reconstruction.

Wedding Day

DOHUK, IRAQI KURDISTAN - 18 October 2019. Aya Toreen at her wedding party. Aya works with The Jinda Organisation, supporting Yazidi refugees from the conflict with ISIS and with the Turks in Syria. We became friends on first meeting, and stayed in touch. It was not a straight path from first meeting her wondeful husband to her wedding day, with some family twists and turns along the way, but she is a determined lady, and they are very much in love. Love conquers all.
